Using windows 10 as a home server

2020-01-27 14:47 Dec 06, 2017 I'm looking to build a Home Server. I have 7 computers running Windows 10 Pro, 2 running Windows 10 Home, and one Mac, I would like to have these on the server. I have an old computer that has XP professional on it, 32bit I do believe. Can I use this for the server? Can I incorporate the Mac with the sever?

Mar 29, 2016  In reply to: Should I use Windows 10 now that WHS isn't available? But here I tend to use a more server oriented OS. For example I added an Intel NUC to the home using windows 10 as a home server Today well take a look at Windows Home Server and show you how to install and configure it with other machines on your network. Windows Home Server (WHS) is meant for your family needs or for use in a home or small office.

Jan 21, 2017 Thanks to all for your responses. I'm getting the sense that Windows 10 may not be my best option for a Home Server to stream my movies and TV series to my Windows 10based HTPCs, iPads, and xBox. So be happy the connector still does its job by running backups. Aug 14, 2016 Configuring my Windows 10 Home Server. Posted on Sun 14 August 2016. I used to run Linux on various small NAS devices (most recently a DLink DNS 320 2 bay device), however I got tired of futzing around with both the hardware and the esoteric flavor of Linux you can sideload onto it. using windows 10 as a home server Jul 10, 2017 Put it to use by installing FreeNAS. FreeNAS is a free, opensource operating system that will convert old PCs into networkattached storage devices. Use your NAS as a central file storage or backup location for every PC on your network. FreeNAS also supports plugins, so you could even run a BitTorrent client or media server on it. My home server is using windows 10 pro and I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for settingsregistry editsetc for this use. I use it as a home file server (windows sharing), media server (plex, local transcoding), local backup (bittorrent sync), remote backup (ArqAmazon Cloud Unlimited)(also GoogleDrive backup for my documents). Aug 20, 2018 How to set up a VPN server on Windows 10. Once you have set up DDNS to use a domain name instead of a complicated IP address, and you forwarded port 1723, now you are ready to set up a VPN server in your Windows 10 PC: Open Control Panel. Click on Network and Sharing Center. Using the left pane, click the Change adapter settings link. May 20, 2016  So I've cobbled together some old PC bits together in the garage as a server. I had an unused Windows 8 license that I've used to install Windows 10 with. My plan is to use this to store media files on and play around with plex, probably do my crashplan backups to, and use
